Terminology

Weight inclusive: A weight inclusive approach puts the emphasis on viewing health and well-being as multifaceted while directing efforts toward improving health access and reducing weight stigma without an emphasis on weight and weight-loss.

Neurodiverse affirming: Neurodivergent-affirming care in eating disorder recovery recognizes, respects, and accommodates the unique needs and experiences of neurodivergent individuals (such as those with autism, ADHD, or other forms of neurodiversity). This approach honors sensory needs, accommodates sensitivities related to food textures and eating environments, avoids distressing compliance-based care, and views neurodiversity as a valuable form of human variation rather than a disorder to be "fixed."
